Late Dora Akunyili must be so proud of her daughters who are currently making waves across the globe.Chidiogo Akunyili Parr, the daughter of the late former Director General of NAFDAC, graced the streets of LA in a painting done by renowned visual artist Njideka Akunyili Crosby. The artist, Njideka Akunyili Crosby is also Dora Akunyili's daughter. Her highest-selling artwork is a painting titled Bush Babies which recently sold for $3.4 million.Sharing the photo, Chidiogo told the story behind it. She wrote: I remember the day I posed for this picture that would become a painting that would grace the streets of LA. My visa to Germany had been rejected. When I had pushed to understand why, I had received an apologetic explanation from a kind officer on how they couldn’t understand why a Nigerian woman as myself wanted to learn German.I was stuck in limbo in between my dream and my reality, uncertain of my next steps, frustrated with life, filled with resentment and judgement. And out of that summer came this painting. I suppose it’s my very own compass to always remember that there is only so much we can see from the bottom of the tree. The view is always changing if we can allow it.#njidekaakunyilicrosby #perspective #changeisconstant #mocalosangelesThe post Dora Akunyili's daughter, Chidiogo's face graces the streets of LA in a painting done by her sister Njideka Akunyili appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

Christiano Ronaldo has been strongly criticized for posting a smiling photo of himself taken in a private jet while footballer Emiliano Sala is still missing after the plane he was in vanished. As the search for Sala was called off for the night, fellow footballer Cristiano Ronaldo tweeted a photo of himself taking a selfie in a private jet. In another photo, he can be seen wearing a wide grin and giving a thumbs up in the aircraft as he left Madrid where he was given a suspended jail sentence for tax fraud.  Fans, sports lovers, and pundits thought Ronaldo's photo was insensitive and they called him out for it.   BBC pundit Gary Lineker retweeted Ronaldo's photo and wrote: Not the day for this tweet. It really isn’t.   Other Twitter users told him it was wrong and disrespectful for him to share such a photo at a time like this while some asked him if he had read the news about Sala at all.See tweets below.    The post Cristiano Ronaldo criticized for posting private jet selfie while plane carrying Emiliano Sala is still missing appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

Money Laundering: Court orders final forfeiture of N354, 000intercepted at the Kaduna International Airport inMarch2017Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of a Federal High Court, Abuja, has ordered the final forfeiture of N354, 000 (Three Hundred and Fifty Four Thousand Naira) which was uncovered by operatives of EFCC during investigations into the N49 million intercepted at the Kaduna International Airport on March 13, 2017. Oyebanji Steve, Taiye Omoniyi Oluwaleke, Risikat Taimiyu Titilayo, Fausat Oni, and Joshua Kisabo had laid claim to the N49 million and challenged the confiscation of the money by the EFCC. During further investigation, one of the claimants led a team of operatives to Deidei, a suburb in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, where in the process of executing a search, some thugs had attacked operatives; but the attack was repelled by police officers on the team. Subsequently, a bag containing the N354,000 was uncovered, abandoned by some persons suspected to be engaging in unlawful selling of new naira notes. The money was made up of N200 and N50 notes (mint) abandoned at the scene, which was confiscated and taken to the Kaduna office of the EFCC. Since the seizure, nobody has come to claim the money. Hence, it was suspected to be proceeds of crime. On March 13, 2018, Justice Dimgba granted an interim forfeiture order of the said amount following an ex parte motion filed by the EFCC.Consequently, the EFCC moved a motion on notice for the final forfeiture of the money, having published the interim forfeiture order in the national newspapers, as ordered by the Court. In his ruling on January 21, 2019, Justice Dimgba granted the final forfeiture of the money to the Federal Government. The post Money Laundering: Court orders final forfeiture of N354, 000intercepted at the Kaduna International Airport inMarch2017 appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

A WhatsApp voice note which Premier League footballer Emiliano Sala sent to friends before his plane vanished has emerged. In it, the 28-year-old seemed scared for his life.In a voice note sent from the light aircraft which disappeared on Monday night in the Piper Mailibu near Alderney in the Channel Islands, Sala told them to send someone to come find him if they don't hear from him. He sounded calm but exhausted. He said in Spanish in the audio recording: Hey guys, how is it going? Brother, I am really tired now. I was over in Nantes sorting things out, doing this, doing that. I am now aboard a plan that seems like it is falling to pieces. I'm going to Cardiff now, crazy, and tomorrow we get going. I will train with my new team tomorrow. The striker, who was recently signed to Cardiff for a whooping sum of £15 million, said in a separate voice note that came later: How are you guys, all good? If you do not have any more news from in an hour and a half, I don't know if they need to send someone to find me. I am getting scared! The Argentine who used to play for Nantes completed a move to Cardiff City on Saturday.  Earlier it emerged he told his former Nantes teammate that he feared for his safety. He was making a round trip in the same plane and when he arrived in France, he reportedly told ex-teammate Nicolas Pallois, who drove him back to Nantes-Atlantiqe airport, that the trip out 'had been bumpy and he feared his safety for the journey back.' His last Instagram post was a photo of him posing with his former teammates with the caption: 'The last goodbye'.   Sala and his pilot last made contact from their Piper FA-46 Malibu just off Alderney at 8.30pm on Monday. On Tuesday coastguard helicopters and lifeboats scoured 1,100 square miles of sea before halting the search at nightfall, Daily Mail reports. In a statement Guernsey Police said: During the course of the 15-hour search, which used multiple air and sea assets from the Channel Islands, UK and France, a number of floating objects have been seen in the water. We have been unable to confirm whether any of these are from the missing aircraft. We have found no signs of those on board. If they did land on the water, the chances of survival are at this stage, unfortunately, slim.   Speaking from Argentina, Sala's father Horacio said he was 'desperate' for news, and broke down in tears as he described him as a 'small town humble boy', adding: 'I just can't believe it.'   The footballer's mother, Mercedes Taffarel was emotional as she said her son was 'enjoying the best moment of his career so far.'The post 'This plane seems like it is falling to pieces, send someone to find me' - Emiliano Sala's last WhatsApp audio note to friends before his plane went missing appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.

Photo: Six months after, EFCC re-arraigns Taoheed Aderemi, Adekoya Abosede, and Ishola Kazeem for visa scam in IbadanThe Ibadan zonal office of EFCC on January 22, 2019 re-arraigned Adeshina Taoheed Aderemi, Adekoya Abosede, and Ishola Abiodun Kazeem before Justice A. Olajide of the Oyo State High Court, sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, on an amended nine-count charge bordering on forgery, uttering and obtaining money by false pretence. The defendants were earlier arraigned on August 30, 2018 before Justice R.B. Akintola of the state’s High Court on a seven-count charge bordering on forgery, uttering and obtaining money by false pretence. One of the counts reads: “That you, Adeshina Taoheed Aderemi, Adekoya Abosede, Ishola Abiodun Kazeem and Odejobi Yussuf Olatunji (at large) sometimes in 2018 at Ibadan within the Ibadan Judicial Division with intent to defraud, obtained N250, 000 from Adesina Idowu falsely pretending that it was the cost price of Canadian Visa you have secured for him and thereby committed an offence”.They pleaded “not guilty” to the charges. Prosecuting counsel, A.I. Suleman, thereafter, applied for a trial date. However, the defence counsel, Samuel C. Uzoelu, prayed the court to allow the second and third defendants continue on the earlier bail granted them by Justice Akintola, and told the court that he had filed a bail application for the first defendant, which was yet to be served on the prosecution. Justice Olajide granted the second and third defendants bail on the same conditions earlier granted them on August 30, 2018, but ordered that the first defendant should be remanded in Agodi Prison, pending the hearing of his application. The case has been adjourned to March 7, 2019 for “trial and hearing of the first defendant’s bail application”.The post Photo: Six months after, EFCC re-arraigns Taoheed Aderemi, Adekoya Abosede, and Ishola Kazeem for visa scam in Ibadan appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
